Modern Mastering was established in 2006 by experienced Brisbane mastering engineer Dave Neil and Modern Music owner Dave Leonard.

Both partners have been involved in music production for many years and have produced, engineered and mastered some of Australia's finest records. Dave and Dave are extremely passionate about music production and it is this passion that has led to the start of Brisbane’s finest dedicated mastering suite.

Mastering engineer, Dave Neil, has been mastering audio for over 14 years and is one of Australia's finest engineers. He started out with the ABC back in the late 80's and has since gone on to master thousands of recordings covering all genres of music.

Modern Mastering has been designed to cater for music of all genres and has incorporated the best of both worlds with state of the art digital technology as well as classic analogue equipment that is dedicated to mastering only. Each piece of equipment has been specifically chosen from various parts of the world to give you a better sounding record.

The room at Modern Mastering was designed by acoustic engineer Andrew Steele with the help of Dave Neil. We set out to achieve the unachievable by trying to create a perfect listening environment in a 100 year old timber cottage. After finding a builder that understood the plan, a few months later we had a room that didn't just look great, it also sounded great. Andrew and Dave carried out several tests to fine tune the room and the results are simply awesome.

Our ultimate aim at Modern Mastering is to help give people a better understanding of why mastering is so important and to most of all help you achieve a better result with your final audio master. Professional audio mastering can be easily overlooked in todays digital world but some of us still have a passion for great sounding recordings.
